SOLUTION

TO DETERMINE

The solution of the equations

8x + 3y = 5 & 3x − 2y = 5

EVALUATION

Here the given system of equations are

8x + 3y = 5 - - - - - - - (1)

3x − 2y = 5 - - - - - - - (2)

Multiplying both sides of Equation 1 by 2 we get

16x + 6y = 10 - - - - - - (3)

Multiplying both sides of Equation 2 by 3 we get

9x - 6y = 15 - - - - - - (4)

Adding Equation 3 and Equation 4 we get

25x = 25

⇒ x = 1

Putting x = 1 in Equation 1 we get

8 + 3y = 5

⇒ 3y = 5 - 8

⇒ 3y = - 3

⇒ y = - 1

FINAL ANSWER

Hence the required solution is x = 1 , y = - 1
