Solution :

y - 4x = 7

=> y = 4x + 7 ----( 1 )

Substitute ( 1 ) in

2y + 4x = 2 , we get

=> 2(4x+7)+4x = 2

Divide each term by 2 , we

get

=> 4x+ 7 + 2x = 1

=> 6x = 1 - 7

=> x = (-6)/6

=> x = -1

put x = -1 in equation ( 1 ),

we get

y = 4(-1 ) + 7

= -4 + 7

= 3

Therefore ,

x = -1 , y =3
