substituting u=2v-9 in equation no.1

$2(2v - 9) + 5v + 1 = 0$

$4v - 18 + 5v + 1 = 0$

$9v = - 19$

$v = - \frac{19}{9}$

$u = 2v - 9$

$u = 2( - \frac{19}{9} ) - 9$

$u = \frac{ - 38 - 81}{9}$

$u = - \frac{119}{9}$
