Deep sea inhabitants use alternative sources of energy because sun rays cannot penetrate there. Most of the sulphur is coming from earth’s interior, also little is being formed in oceans. Chemosynthetic bacteria generate energy from hydrogen sulphide and form the ground level of food chain also at the vents water seeping through ocean floor picks up dissolved minerals and nutrients. Some organisms prey on other smaller organisms.
