Given that ,

  • Refractive index of diamond (n) = 2.4
  • Speed of light in vacuum (C) = 3 × (10)^8 m/s

We know that , the refractive index of medium is given by

 \large \sf \fbox{Refractive  \: index \:  (n)  =  \frac{Speed  \: of  \: light \:  in  \: vacuum }{Speed \:  of  \: light \:  in \:  medium }  }

Thus ,

 \sf \mapsto 2.4 =  \frac{3 \times  {(10)}^{8} }{Speed \:  of  \: light \:  in \:  diamond}  \\  \\ \sf \mapsto Speed \:  of  \: light \:  in \:  diamond = 1.25 \times  {(10)}^{8}

 \therefore \sf \underline{The \:  speed \:  of \:  light \:  in \:  diamond \:  is </p><p> \: 1.25 \times  {(10)}^{8} \: m/s }
