what is the standars meridian of india?why it has been so selected

82°30'E has been selected as the standard meridian of India because there is a time lag of 2 hours in Gujarat and Arunachal Pradesh.To prevent this time lag and to have a standard time across India.It runs through Mirzapur in Uttar Pradesh.
