the three states of matter have different interparticle space
In gases this space is the largest as their molecules are freely in motion
in liquids it is considerable but lesser than gases as result of which they also occupy a fixed volume
talking about solid they are quite closely packed and hence occupies a definite shape They have a negligible interparticle space
