inter particle distance between the molecules of solid is very less , solids are rigid and they have more intermolecular force of attraction between them

inter particle distance between the molecules of liquid us a bit more than compared to that of solids . So , the liquids flow and they are not rigid . They have a bit less force of attraction between the molecules of liquid

inter particle distance between the molecules of gases is very high They are found in a free state . They have very less force of attraction between the molecules of gases

depending upon the intermolecular forces of attraction

the three states of matter have different interparticle space

In gases this space is the largest as their molecules are freely in motion

in liquids it is considerable but lesser than gases as result of which they also occupy a fixed volume

talking about solid they are quite closely packed and hence occupies a definite shape They have a negligible interparticle space
