The copper statue, a gift from the people of France to the people of the United States, was designed by French sculptor Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi and built by Gustave Eiffel. The statue was dedicatedon October 28, 1886. The Statue of Liberty is a figure of Libertas, a robed Roman liberty goddess.

this statue was given to america as a gift from french people to americans  this  is a copper statue .it is dedicated on october 28 1886 .The Statue of Liberty is a figure of Libertas, a robed Roman liberty goddess. She holds a torch above her head with her right hand, and in her left hand carries a tabula ansata inscribed in Roman numerals with "JULY IV MDCCLXXVI" (July 4, 1776), the date of the U.S. Declaration of Independence. A broken chain lies at her feet as she walks forward. The statue became an icon of freedom and of the United States, a national park tourism destination, and is a welcoming sight to immigrants arriving from abroad. the height of the copper  statue is 151 feet1 inch(46 meters) and the height of the statue from the ground level to torch is 305 feet 1 inch (93 meters) .the sculptor of the statue is a french sculptor named Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi. this statue was restored in the years 1938,1984-1986,2011-2012. it was national designated as us national monument in the year 1624on 15 th of october it was designated by the president calvin coolidge .
