what is the structural difference between outer and inner membrane of Mitochondria??
tell me fast and perfect answer
anosh108:
mitochondria has 2 layers.. outer and inner layer respectively.. in which outer layer if simple without coiling and it is freely permeable membrane whereas the innermembrane having the infoldings to increase surface area and it is selectively permeable this infoldings of mitochondrial inner membrane is called crista

The outer membrane surrounds the mitochondria. It is a semi-permeable membrane similar to the cell membrane. The inner membrane is impermeable. ... The folds created by the inner membrane are known as the cristae, which contain proteins and molecules that participate in cellular respiration.

Ciao,
the outer membrane of mitochondria is not folded while the inner membrane is folded inwards these are called cristea.it is in the link with mitochondial matrix and has small knob like structures called f1 particles and many enzymes like oxysomes.it is made up of lipoproteins.while the outet membrane is a covering it has no enzymes it is linked with the cytoplasm.
i really hope that you will find it helpful. stay blessed
