The respiratory organs in all the animals are known to be similar in many ways. These organs have been structured to allow easy diffusion of respiratory organs and are made up of thin walls to facilitate the exchange of these gases. The respiratory organs like gills, skin, and lungs are all provided with a rich supply of blood for proper functioning and for transporting the respiratory gases. Of all the organ systems in the body of an animal, the respiratory system is the only one which has a comparatively larger surface area in order to provide proper transportation of oxygen.
