Nicotine is an alkaloid present in the members of the plant family Solanaceae. It is present in tobacco. Its mode of action includes stimulating the adrenal gland to release adrenaline and nor-adrenaline; hence increases the heart rate and  blood pressure.

The prolonged use of nicotene has various harmful effects on our body. Some of them are:irregular heart ratedrug dependence mental depression trouble with sleeping heart burn in digestion mouth and throat irritation
