To find : sum of rational numbers \frac{12}{20} and \frac{13}{20}

Solution:

  • As per given condition we write , \frac{12}{20}+\frac{13}{20}
  • Properties of addition are as follows
  • 1. Identity property of zero.
  • 2. Inverse property.
  • 3. Commutative property.
  • 4. Associative property.
  • Solving given expression ,
  • \frac{12}{20}+\frac{13}{20}

     = \frac{12 + 13}{20} \\= \frac{25}{20} \\= \frac{5}{4}

Hence , sum of  \frac{12}{20} and \frac{13}{20} is \frac{5}{4} .

Hence, sum of $\frac{17}{12}$ and $\frac{35}{8}$ is $\frac{139}{24}$.
