Answer:

31/20

Step-by-step explanation:

3/4 and 4/5 are unlike fractions because their denominators are different so we need to make it a like fraction by using common denominators.

To make denominators same,

take out LCM of 4 & 5 = 2x2x4

= 20

(3/4 x 5/5) + (4/5 x 4/4)

15/20 + 16/20

Now add the numerators

31/20.

Solution :-

We need to find the sum of (3/4) and (4/5) .

Since denominator of both fractions is different . So, in order to make denominator same we must multiply them with LCM of their denominators .

So,

→ 4 = 2 * 2

→ 5 = 1 * 5

then,

→ LCM = 2 * 2 * 5 = 20

now, In fraction (3/4) multiply both numerator and denominator by 5 in order to make denominator equal to LCM .

→ (3/4) * (5/5) = (3 * 5)/(4 * 5) = (15/20)

and, In fraction (4/5) multiply both numerator and denominator by 4 in order to make denominator equal to LCM .

→ (4/5) * (4/4) = (4 * 4)/(5 * 4) = (16/20)

therefore, putting both values now, we get,

→ (3/4) + (4/5)

→ (15/20) + (16/20)

→ (31/20)

1(11/20) = 1 whole (11/20) (Ans.)
