The answer is 4096/128

the sequence has each following number divided by 4

so, 40/4 = 10

10/4 = 2.5

2.5/4 = 0.625

0.625/4 = 0.15625

0.15625/4 = 0.0390625

also, the first number is subtracted to its following number and that is then added to its next number which in turn is then subtracted to its next number like this - 40-10+2.5-0.625+0.15625-0.0390625

This results to 31.9921875 or, 4095/128.
