Step-by-step explanation:

Prime number defined as the number which is divisible by 1 and by itself own.

Examples: 2, 3, 5, 7, 11, 13, 17, 19, 23 etc.

We need to find the three prime numbers whose sum is 17.

Let's start by first three numbers.

→ 2 + 3 + 5 = 10 (which is not equal to 17)

Similarly,

→ 3 + 5 + 7 = 15 (which is also not equal to 17)

→ 7 + 5 + 11 = 23 (23 ≠ 17)

Hence, from above it's crystal clear that the sum of three prime numbers can't be 17. Also, the sum of 3, 5 and 7 is 15 which further increases with increase in number. So, 15 is the smallest sum of three prime numbers which is also not 17.

But if we repeat the numbers then it is possible to get the sum of three prime numbers as 17.

Ex: (3 + 3 + 11), (3 + 7 + 7) etc.
