their difference is 10

i.e. a+b=30 and a-b=10

To find the numbers, we will solve the above equations.

Let us add both the equations-

a+b+a-b=30+10

2a=40 and hence a=20

Put the value a=20 in one of the equations and we get b=10

So the numbers are 20 and 10.
