Given :  (Two-fifths x + 5 over 8 ) + (one-fifth x minus one-fourth)

(2x/5  + 5/8)  + (x/5  - 1/4)

To Find   :  Sum

Solution:

(2x/5  + 5/8)  + (x/5  - 1/4)

= 2x/5  + 5/8 + x5  - 1/4

= 2x/5 + x/5  +  5/8  - 1/4

= (2x + x)/5  + (5  - 2)/8

=  3x/5  + 3/8

= (24x  + 15)/40

(2x/5  + 5/8)  + (x/5  - 1/4)  =  3x/5  + 3/8

or  (24x  + 15)/40
