5000 is the sum whose 25% is 1250

as we know 25% is 1/4 th of 100% so multiply 1250*4 and we get 5000 and to cross verify 5000/1250 is 0.25 which multiplied by 100 is 25%

or directly solving we can write

25% as (25/100)* x  = 1250

x = 1250 * 100/25 or directly 4

then x= 1250 * 4

then the number is 5000

Answer :-

  • The sum is Rs 5000.

To find :-

  • The sum whose 25% is Rs 1250.

Solution :-

Let the sum be "x".

It is given that :-

  • 25% of x is Rs 1250.

Therefore,

 \sf25\% \: of \: x = 1250

Converting 25% into fraction,

 \sf \dfrac{25}{100}  \times x = 1250

Multiplying 25/100 with x,

  \sf\dfrac{25x}{100}  = 1250

Transposing 100 from LHS to RHS, changing it's sign,

 \sf25x = 1250 \times 100

Multiplying 1250 with 100,

 \sf25x = 125000

Transposing 25 from LHS to RHS, changing it's sign,

 \sf x =  \dfrac{125000}{25}

Dividing 1250000 by 25,

  \underline{ \boxed{\sf x = Rs \: 5000}}

 \\

Hence :-

  • The sum whose 25% is Rs 1250 is Rs 5000.
