                                          JUST ME

                               A poem by Tom Krause

The poem Just me is written by Tom Krause (1934-2013). The poem explains the feelings of a boy who is told that he is brilliant at a sport but is never told that he can be defeated or needs to improve. His ego increases and he thinks that he is the king of the game in his backyard, but then someone comes to his face. He gets nervous and thinks that his teammates are not at all a good player. Then the ball comes to him and he's not the "The king with the ball" now. Then he realizes that there were no teammates. it was just him. His ego gets defeated and now he improves himself. His improvement  can be seen in his game. At last the defeat had overcome his ego. We learn that if we're working under pressure we can't excel in any field.

Thanks!!
