the earth consist of three main layers :-
core, mantle ,crust .the surface of the earth where we live is known as crust. and it is hard outershell.oceanic and continental crust consist of a number of moving plates.

just below the crust is the mantle which is softer and denser .the crust and the upper layer of the mantle are together known as lithosphere .the lithosphere is divided into several large and small plates of rock called tectonic plates.

the inner part is the core.it is a dense ball of the elements iron and nickel .it is subdivided into the elements iron and nickel.it is subdivided into the inner and outer core.the inner core or the center of the earth is solid but the outer core is so hot that the melts are always in their molten state
