Gynoecium is the "central whorl" of the flower made of carpels. The carpel consists of "ovary", "style", and "stigma".

Ovary is the swollen part at the base that encloses the ovule.

The whole structure is placed on the thalamus. The style forms a "long slender stalk" from the ovary and ends up to a swollen base which is sticky called the stigma.
