Instantaneous linear motion of a body in circular/curved path may be resolved in to two parts, perpendicular to each other. The component of motion along tangent to the path is associated with tangent velocity. The component of linear motion, perpendicular to tangent, is outward and is instrumental to centrifugal action. The body can maintain its circular path only if outward motion due to centrifugal action is compensated by centripetal motion in opposite direction.
