satwik31:
As indian Constitution tenure of prime minister is five year. After general election, the tenure is so long as he holds majority in Lok Sabha, or, five years whichever is later. ... See PM of India has a term of 5 years. He is the leader of the party with a clear majority in Lok Sabha election.

The Prime Minister holds his office till his party wins the elections and enjoys the majority of the Lok Sabha. But if a vote of confidence is passed by Lok Sabha against him or any of his ministers, then the whole ministry as well as the Prime Minister has to resign.
