It is the force in which a body is made to follow a path in curved shape. The body has a specific  direction to the velocity of it towards the fixed point in the centre of the curvature.

Centripetal Force is the force needed to change the direction of the motion of a particle (i.e., to produce acceleration). Therefore the motion in circular path is under the action of a force which is called Centripetal force.
