SOLUTION

TO DETERMINE

The terms in the sequence

 \sf a_n = 4n - 7

EVALUATION

Here the given sequence is

 \sf a_n = 4n - 7

The terms of the sequence are obtained by putting n = 1 , 2 , 3 , 4 , . . . .

Putting n = 1 we get

First term = a₁ = ( 4 × 1 ) - 7 = 4 - 7 = - 3

Second Term = a₂ = ( 4 × 2 ) - 7 = 8 - 7 = 1

Third term = a₃ = ( 4 × 3 ) - 7 = 12 - 7 = 5

Fourth term = a₄ = ( 4 × 4 ) - 7 = 16 - 7 = 9

Hence the terms of the sequence are

- 3 , 1 , 5 , 9 , . . . .
