have been trying to draw spiral curves by using the equation x²+y² = a²[arc tan (y/x)]², with a view to going on to draw helical curves, in order to try to understand the curvature of spiral handrails developed from flat iron bar.

Somewhat ambitious for an absolute beginner on GeoGebra I realise but I cannot even find a form of that equation that I can enter into the GeoGebra input and use to start plotting any form of spiral curve.

Any thoughts or advice on this matter would be much appreciated.
