poet want that people remeber his friend. so, he wrote this poetry dedicated to his friend .
In this poetry-
people built many monuments like tomb , temple etc. because they want that people remember them
But many wastefull wars destroy them or effect of atmoshphere varnish there shine
so,poet wrote this poetry "not marble nor the glided monuments " at place to built any building . Because every thing changes with time but nothing can destroy this poetry even God of wars, this poetry can't be changed with time . generations read this poetry &remember his friend
