Explanation:
Manila (CNN Philippines Life) — We arrive an hour before show time, soaked. It had been raining on and off all afternoon, and parts of Pasong Tamo were already ankle-deep in flood water. I know this for a fact because our shoes sloshed through a raging stream to get to The Green Sun Hotel, the venue for “Tambuli,” Words Anonymous’s Buwan ng Wika show.
I had never attended a spoken word event before. So in my head was this dated image of a cozy café filled with hepcats snapping their fingers to some boozy poet rocking a French beret. But in reality, it was this big blank space occupied by just a microphone, a gigantic sitting mat, and a whole lot of very empty tables. The rain was relentless. Were people even coming?
In the green room, the anticipation was building and it came in a menagerie of pre-show rituals. Some members of Words Anonymous paced around, feeling out the words on their tongues. Others stepped out for cigarettes while those flexible enough tried handstands and yoga.
“Why am I so nervous?!” he yelled.
Juan Miguel Severo — Gege, to everyone present there — was sequestered on the top landing of the staircase in the corner of the room. The question he asked was for no one in particular. It was merely a quick release of pent-up nerves before he went back to reading out loud and working out the kinks of his newest spoken word piece.
Who would have thought that someone as confident as Severo, a guy who regularly bares his soul on stage, the nation’s poster boy for spoken word poetry, got this tense?
Answer:
- I'm not a risk taker. Not one to take risks in the name of love,it used to be.
- I never knew love could make you so happy.
- I didn't know how it could drive you crazy. I didn't know how much it hurt you.
- After all the pain and happiness, when it's all said and done, I'm still here.
- Sometimes I still feel the pain, but I don't regret it, and I'll try again.
- Yes, love is an addiction. , you can't get enough. Together they traveled happily through all the hills, promising eternity. But love is a transformed form. Tired, angry, lying, selfish.
- Again, her lover's hands and feet are bound.
- At the same time came a strong wave that flooded the earth.
- And in the heavy rain, the ruins were almost indistinguishable.
- After a storm, the heart is devastated. Love is lost A man is alone again.
- But after many very dark nights and very cold mornings...at last he smiled again.
- He called God again, went down to the water and gambled some more. Isn't pain the price of love? If you're risking nothing, are you risking everything?
Explanation:
- Severo is what is usually called a multi-hyphen.
- He is a poet, novelist, screenwriter, playwright and actor.
- But Severo might find it easier and less aggressive to divide his work into his two categories: writing and playing.
