Answer:

I shot an arrow into the air,

It fell to earth, I knew not where;

For, so swiftly it flew, the sight

Could not follow it in its flight.

I breathed a song into the air,

It fell to earth, I knew not where;

For who has sight so keen and strong,

That it can follow the flight of song?

Long, long afterward, in an oak

I found the arrow, still unbroke;

And the song, from beginning to end,

I found again in the heart of a friend.

Explanation:

This poem talks about someone shooting an arrow and losing it, and then they sing a song and the song disappears but later find it in a friend. This poem theme is based around the fact that words are unbroken. When the person in the poem shoots the arrow it is like when we lash out at someone or say unkind words.

Answer:

The poet is talking about his journey which he recalls it while seeing someone, probably a child.

Arrow in 1st stanza desrcibes about his decisions that he had made. At that time he was not sure whether his decisions are correct or not.

Song in 2nd stanza describes about his courage for taking all those decisions, again he was not sure where his courage will drive him.

3rd stanza describes his feeling of being correct for what he had decided in the past. May be poet meets a child having same courage to pursue his goals as the the poet had and seeing this poet recalls his past.

Hope I helped!
