the three main function of digestive system are -
- transportation - food which is taken is transported through the intestinal tract by the movement of gastro-intestinal muscles called peristalsis.the food is broken down into simple compound and then transported.
- digestion - the food ingested includes nutrients like protein,fat,carbohydrate,vitamin and minerals which are are digested so that these nutrients could be used for various functions of the body.
- absorption- the digested food contain all the essential elements for the proper functioning of the body are absorbed into the blood by the blood linings.
hence,these are the amin activity of the digestive system.
