The tightly wounded coils found in Electrical appliances which heat up are the wires of those elements which have very High Resistance which help in converting most of the Electric Energy into Heat Energy. Good example of wire used in Heating Electrical Appliances is Nichrome Wire(Having 80% Nichrome and 20% Chromium) is tightly wounded.
