Displacement is actually the distance moved by an object from the origin of its motion until it stops. Displacement is dependent on the direction an object moves. When an object comes back to its origin it is said to have zero displacement. Therefore the total displacement of travel is the whole distance traveled from the beginning to the end of the journey.
