Answer: Total Internal Reflection (TIR) is a phenomenon which occurs when light travelling from a denser to rarer medium reflects from the surface of the two media without any energy losses in the other medium.

2 conditions required for TIR to occur are:-

i) The angle of incidence should be greater than the critical angle (the angle of incidence for which the angle of refraction is = 90 degree)

ii) The light should travel from denser to rarer medium.
