What is the total momentum of a bullet and a gun before firing?

The gun and the bullet are both at rest, so the momenta (mv) of the gun and the bullet are both zero. So, the total momentum of the system before the bullet is fired is zero.

\sf\star\text{ NOTE:- the gun before firing ,it means the initial position of gun. wil be zero }

\sf\star\text{ it is given as when gun is fired the momentum of bullet will change  from zero to the need of infinity}

\sf\therefore \text{final momentum is equal to initial momentum , which is zero}

\sf\star\text{here, gun and bullet both are in rest as given "before firing"}

\sf\star\text{then , total momentum kf a bullet will be zero.}
