When we talk about carbon bonded to OH ,it forms a bond with carbon, two hydrogen, and oxygen, and we see all are single bonds so it means these are sigma bonds. So no.of sigma bonds made by this carbon is 4.

When we come to other carbon it filorms three bonds with hydrogen and one bond with carbon and here also all are single bonds that means they are sigma bonds,so no.of sigma bonds formed this carbon is also 4.

Here one is common for both carbons so we have to exclude one bond so total no.of bonds bonds formed by carbons are 7.

When we come to oxygen it forms a bond with hydrogen and carbon but in above we counted it in first carbon so exclude it.

So finnaly total number of sigma bonds are 8.

Number of pi bonds are ZERO
