Total Resistance

Resistance in Series = 10 Ω + 10 Ω = 20 Ω

Resistance in parallel = 1/20 + 1/20 = 2/20 = 10 Ω

Total Resistance = 20 Ω

Resistance

It is the property of a conductor to resist the flow of charges through it. Its S.I unit is ohm (Ω).

R = V/I

Where,

  • R = Resistance
  • V = voltage
  • I = current.

Factors on which the resistance of a conductor depends:

  • Resistance depends on its length (L)
  • Resistance depends on its cross sectional area (A)
  • Resistance depends on the nature of material

\sf{R\propto \dfrac{L}{A}}

\sf{R=\rho \dfrac{L}{A}}

  • Where "ρ" (rho) is proportionally constant known as resistivity of the material of conductor.

Answer:

Total Resistance →

Resistance in Series = 10 Ω + 10 Ω = 20 Ω

Resistance in parallel = 1/20 + 1/20 = 2/20 = 10 Ω

Total Resistance = 20 Ω
