Answer:  2/3 ohm

Explanation:These are identical resistors i.e., all have same resistance

So, total/effective resistance = R/n

where, R = resistance of a resistor

            n = no.of identical resistors.

Here, R = 2

         n = 3

Therefore, Reff = R/n = 2/3 ohm

You can also do this using the basic formula i.e.,

1/Reff = 1/R1 + 1/R2 + 1/R3 +....

1/Reff = 1/2 + 1/2 + 1/2 = 3/2

Reff = 2/3 ohm

Given:

  • Resistance of each resistor = 2 ohm
  • How many resistors = 3 resistors

To find:

  • Total resistance

Solution:

Here , given that all the 3 resistors are each of 2ohm that means R1 = R2 = R3 = 2ohm

As we know that

n number of resistors are connected in parallel

1/Rn = 1/R1 + 1/R2 + . + 1/Rn

Similarly

1/Rn = 1/R1 + 1/R2

Where

  • R1 = R2 = R3 = 2ohm

→ 1/Rn = 1/2 + 1/2 + 1/2

→ 1/Rn = 3(1/2)

→ 1/Rn = 3/2

Rn = 2/3 ohm

Hence , total resistance = 2/3ohm
