United nations is an international body/organization formed after the Second world war  on 24 October 1945, to maintain  international peace and security and also to prevent the outbreak of another war.

it is different in many ways ,some of the objectives are -:

a. It believes in peaceful settlement of International disputes.

b It has been involved in promoting a culture of human rights.

c. United nations has been promoting disarmament through its various resolutions

d.  It has played an important role in the promotion of freedom of trade and markets, fight epidemics and fatal diseases, abject poverty, famines, helped in the advancement of women, children, through its agencies like UNESCO, UNICEF, WHO, ILO etc.  

e. It also calls for disarmament.
