the underlying message in the poem The Duck and the kangaroo is that we should help weaker sections we should not feel pride on ourselves by our muscular power and strength.

it simply means that we should help the the poor and give them happiness as the kangaroo give nothing as to the duck and if the rich or well people will help needy people then everyone can be happy and blessed the poem tells to be social, kind, calm and broad minded.
