Unit of Force

Newton-One newton is the force that causes an acceleration of 1 metre/second2 in a body of 1 kilogram. It is also called kg-metre/second2. That is

1 newton = 1 kg-metre/second2

Kilogram weight-It is the gravitational unit force. It is equal to the force that is exerted on a body of one kilogram due to gravity.

Gravitational force = mass x acceleration due to gravity

1 kg-wt,

= 1 kg × g m/s^2

= g kg m/s^2

= g Newton

since in MKS System

g = 9.8 m/s^2
