The degree of change in magnetization of a substance when an external magnetic field is applied to it is known as magnetic susceptibility.
The equation M=kH defines it where k is the quantity in question and other symbols have their usual meanings.
Magnetic susceptibility is a unit less and dimensionless quantity.
