newtons (N or kg. m/s2). Therefore, the spring constant k, and each element of the tensor κ, is measured innewtons per meter (N/m),

Force constant is simply called spring constant.

According to Hooke’s law,

F=-kx

where, F is force, x is displacement and k is force constant( spring constant)

for determining SI unit of force constant( spring constant) rearrange the equation,

k=-F/x

now replacing units,

k=N/m

hence SI unit of force constant( spring constant) is Nm−1 ( newton per meter)
