Tractive effort is implemented somehow in experimental, but there are used kilonewtons. It leads to small numbers and results in floating point arithmetic.
My patch uses newtons as base unit of tractive force. It causes a little bit better behavior with smaller values, no floating point arithmetic is needed.
Having friction force calculated in newtons enables see better correspondence with real world too. It can be set to more corresponding values having units (e.g. newtons in this case) revealed.

tractive effort means tractive force which is used to generate a motion between body and tangential surface, through the use of dry friction.
