Sir Issac Newton has given two laws of Gravitation which also called as Universal Law Of Gravitation.

According to the first law of Gravitation, the force of attraction or repulsion is directly proportional to their masses.

F ∝ Mm ----------- (1)

According to the second law, the force of attraction or repulsion between two bodies is inversely proportional to the square of distance between them .

F ∝ 1/r² ----------(2)

From (1) & (2)

F ∝ Mm/r²

F = G Mm/r²

G is called as Gravitational Constant.

Value of G = 6.67 x 10-¹¹ Nm²/kg² .
