UPSC Exams are conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). Many people refer to the Civil Services exams as UPSC exams.
UPSC is an autonomous body of Indian Government. Selections and Recruitments to national level government posts are done by the UPSC through exams. These are exams for Engineering Services, Indian Administrative Services, Indian Forest Services, Indian Police Services etc.
UPSC conducts exams in multiple stages. First stage (also called prelims) consists of written exams in general studies and special subject chosen by the candidate. Second stage ( also called finals) exams consist of personality tests. Then there are interviews.
UPSC exams are the selection process for the much coveted burocratic posts in the government.
