when two people communicate they must be knowing each other's language they must be talking in a particular language otherwise it is very difficult to communicate.
so humans communicate using different languages like English, Hindi, French, German, Spanish, Chinese, etc.
similarly to communicate with machines there must be a language otherwise is very difficult to give a command to machine.
show the different type of languages we say that "programming languages".
