There are two types of eye lenses I.e Convex and Concave

We use spectacles having either the convex or the concave lens a person suffering from long sightedness or hypermetropia (unable to see the near object distinctly) wears spectacles having the convex lens.
While a person suffering from short sightedness or myopia (unable to see the objects distinctly) wears spectacles having a concave lens.

Some people are both short and long sighted, they uses either the separate spectacles for seeing the near and far objects or they use a spectacle with a bifocal lens.

In the spectacles having bifocal lens the lower part is the convex which is used to see the near objects, while the upper part is concave which is used to see the distant object.
