I think you mean why does the body expend the energy and nutrients to keep producing new cells when there are pre-existing cells.

That is a good question because it helps you understand that the processes most cells go through create a lifespan for cells — that is cellular activity for most cells ends up with the end of a cell’s life and the need for that cell, as its final act, to produce new cells through the transfer of its DNA so that the new cells can begin their time at the beginning of that life cycle. The body then has a system for disposing of the old non vital cell.
