Ans. The roughage helps in regulating digestion.
Insoluble fibre absorbs water and swells up to form a gel that's helpful in bowel movement soft and easy pass. these attributes of fibre give it ability to receive and prevent both constipation and diarrhoea .

Roughage and water are also important even though they do not give us energy. Water hydrates our body and restores the water that is lost through urine and sweat. Water is also needed for many chemical processes that take place in our body. Roughage prevents constipation and ensures the free-flow of the solid wastes.

Roughage and water are also important even though they do not give us energy. Water hydrates our body and restores the water that is lost through urine and sweat. Water is also needed for many chemical processes that take place in our body. Roughage prevents constipation and ensures the free-flow of the solid wastes.
Roughages and water plays important role in digestion .The roughages and water in the alimentary canal increases the weight of the food and thus help in easy passage of food in the gut or alimentary canal .In take of rich fibre food may help us to lead easy digestion .Roghages and water do not provide us energy but constipation can often be avoided by having plenty of roughages in our diet .
