SONAR system consists of a transmitter and a detector which are installed in the "observation center" on board of a ship. from the observation center on board a ship ,ultrasonic waves of high frequencies ,say 1000KHz , are sent in all directions under the water through transmitter . these waves travel in a straight liens till they hit an object such as a submarine ,a sunken ship ,a school of fish ,etc .The waves are than reflected and are revived back by the receiver at the observation center.
1.sonar helps us for detecting and finding the distance of objects under water .
2.it is utilized by marine geologists to determine the depth of the sea and to locate under water hills and valleys .
